Pointe! History

Gina Tate, Executive Director and Entrepreneur

Originally from Akron Oho, Gina’s formal training began at The University of Akron in classical ballet, tap, jazz, modern, musical theatre and ballroom. Gina participated on the Akron Zips dance team while finishing up her studies before moving to Charlotte, NC. In continuing her career in the performing arts, she danced and choreographed for local Rap artists and college dance teams until she earned an elite position as one of the inaugural 27 Top Cat Professional Cheerleaders for the Carolina Panthers professional football team in 96’.

In 2006, Gina went by faith and opened THE POINTE! Studio of Dance in Greensboro NC that is known for their family oriented atmosphere and technical strength in all genres of dance. The studio produces annual productions that have been nationally recognized as professional performances consisting of predominately children. THE POINTE! produces dancers age 2 years and up. This training encourages both recreational dancers who take dance for many reasons to those who wish to make it as a career performer. Gina consistently works on improving and providing opportunities for her young dancers by giving those who are usually over looked, lead roles in her own productions which are created with them in mind.  We create individuals who are well rounded, honest and caring human beings in life and that become top notch professionals.

While running the studio, Gina also choreographs for community theatre, local functions, pageants, hair shows, colleges and her very own Pointe! Company and Mini Company that are invited to headline many venues both near and far.

In her personal life, Gina is married to her husband Jamie and has two beautiful sons, (Avilon & Aviel) who continues to support and believe in her God given vision.

Mission & Purpose

Our mission and purpose at THE POINTE! Studio of Dance is to promote a disciplined program of superior dance instruction and inclusion, training students of all ages and levels in a variety of dance forms.

The varied backgrounds of our staff as well as extensive exposure to professional guest artist and choreographers allow our students to experience a variety of styles from classical ballet to hip-hop.  Exceptional high levels of performance opportunities that we offer further develop the student's versatility.  Our students perform in a broad repertory of dance and full professionally mounted productions including, "THE FANTASY AND ADVENTURE OF OZ", an all dance adaptation of "THE WIZ", "CINDY AND THE GLASS SLIPPER, an all dance rendition of "Cinderella", "IT'S A HARD KNOCK LIFE", an all dance rendition of "ANNIE" and most recently, "PRIDE LAND", an all dance rendition of "Lion King".

Our healthy and fitness-based curriculum promotes the best possible health while building self-confidence and leadership skills that will help them become well rounded adults.  THE POINTE! awards the certificate of excellence to all students completing the 36 week program and annual end of the year dance recital.  Additional classes like vocals and acting will be offered for those who want to become a triple threat and pursue a career in more than just dance or simply for those who truly love the arts!
